Barack Obama became the nation’s 44th president last night. A loud minority of people are pretty unhappy with it. There’s 76 pages so far of this stuff on the FOX News forum.  Here’s some highlights from the first 3 or 4.

If I was currently serving my country, be it in Iraq, Afghanistan, or
in any station, my course of action may do both myself and Obama a
favor: I would resign my commission (if an officer) or ask for a
discharge (honorable–if enlisted), effective on the date of
inaguration. I am extremely proud to be an American and would be proud
to serve her (if I were still doing so), but I would not serve Obama.
An Obama presidency is anti-American and not worth serving. Besides,
since he wants to withdraw troops from Iraq en masse, I would be one
less man he would have to worry about withdrawing. BTW, if Obama were
not inagurated on no longer in power, many would be proud to serve the
new commander-in-chief.

McCain lost because so many stupid, idiotic Americans were deceived by
the lies of Obama and Biden.
And mostly of those Americans, are ignorant Americans, power hungry
Americans, Americans who are traitors like Jane Fonda who betrayed
America by siding with the Viet Congs during the Vietnam War, leftists
Americans who love terrorists, and Americans who doesn’t care if this
country is sold to the hands of the foreigners who rule over you! God
will not bless America anymore! America is now the Dragon who will eat
his own tail: that is, all of you!!!

McCain/Palin lost because of the media and nothing else. He was
fighting all the bias that tv news, magazines, and newspapers threw at
them. It was never the experienced leader against a black man, it was
the experienced leader again the entire media and those dumb
celebrities in hollywood who are so screwed up.
Journalism is a disgrace. They conned a nation into believing that
Obama was “The One”.
We should all wear a black arm ban today as today is the death of
democracy.

Scott: You’re right, if Obama lost last night, his supporters would be
rioting, looting, burning, and destroying everything in site in the
streets. I must admit, I’d rather be listening to and reading non-
intelligent gloating by the ignorant than watching the ignorant run
rampant with wanton destruction on the news. The lesser of two evils I
guess.

It is no suprise that Castro is happy for us (as has been reported
this morning). I just hope we don’t wake up in a few years and can’t
figure out if we are living in the U.S. or Cuba.
McCain didn’t have much of a chance. I feel like our country is truely
changing. Our American way used to be work hard, prosper, have pride.
The new American way is sit on your ass, collect, feel owed. I really
feel sorry for our future lazy generations. They will never know how
good it feels to earn somthing.

I don’t feel we lost the election but the country was overthrown in a
bloodless coup by liberal, socialist that control the media, press and
universities (Karl Marks own formula).
Anybody that don’t see this is probably praying to a billboard poster
of Obama waiting on the guy to save him.

Let’s see if the gutless wonders at fox.com will censor this comment
as they did my last. We commit soon to a new revolutionary movement in
this country. Once again looks like the North against the South.. just
take a look at the Red State Blue State map and see where the
Socialist anti American idiots live. We fought a revolution 200 years
ago against tyranny. May be time to do it again.

McCain lost because he was a honest and good person and Obama run
against Bush not McCain as he did for so many years. If he had of run
against McCain he would have lost.

We do not live in a democracy we live in a REPUBLIC! The reason Obama
won vs McCain? Simple - the powers that be wanted Obama as president.
Obama outspent McCain something like eight times over. Goes to show
that you can buy your way into the White House if you have enough
money thrown at you. This is a sad day!

Why did McCain lose? Because we have a flawed system. Just look at
your map….more red states than blue. But I think the best thing we can
do now is declare war against the blue states and beat them into
submisssion!

HARLOM AND WATCH AND LISTEN TO THE VIDEO. PEOPLE THAT THEY SPOKE TO
THAT WERE VOTING FOR OBAMA THOUGHT THAT SARAH PALIN WAS HIS CHOICE FOR
VP AND THAT HE WANTED TO STAY IN IRAQ TO WIN THE WAR. WHEN THEY
QUESTIONED THEM AGAIN ABOUT SARAH PALIN THEY SAID THEY THINK THAT SHE
WOULD BE A GREAT PRESIDENT. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP. LET PRAY
THAT WE ARE SAFE FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS!

Hopefully Sarah Palin will pose in Playboy now.

The Swamp is the Chicago Tribune’s politics blog, and like most blogs of its type, it runs a little bit of commentary, a little bit of snark, and a little bit of stuff that probably wouldn’t make the paper even on a slow Sunday.

Case in point: to accompany an otherwise-standard election fund-raising story, they ran a mundane, even banal photo of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle on Chicago’s South Side. And sure, nobody looks good in a bicycle helmet, as Obama conceded at a Thursday night fundraiser:

“I had an internal debate,” Obama admitted, when a supporter thanked him for wearing a helmet. “Because I knew that the AP was going to take a picture, and they were trying to portray it like Dukakis wearing that tank helmet.

“But I wanted to make sure that the children who saw that picture knew that even the Democratic nominee for president wears a helmet when he goes biking,” he said to applause.

Well, shucks. Hard to argue with that, politically calculated (”For the Children!”) or not. The photo business just barely adds interest to another campaign newsblip. Surely no one can make a mountain out of this molehill.

Haha, what a tool!!!!!
Ooh, I did it for the kids, always about the kids. C’mon, you are a part of the problem why these kids are such wimps today. When I was a kid, I never wore one, fell plenty of times but got right back up every time. Learned a lot of valuable lessons that way.

For example, “how to act like a douche in a public forum,” right, Ed? But at least you’re not reading a sinister political agenda into coverage of a bike helmet, like our cousin Vinny:

Still no article on McCains nationally televised Town
Hall meeting last night. Nah the swamp is not biased towards or Obama
otr anything like that. The swamp is clearly pushing an agenda. I dont
want to have to but I think I am going to have to put the swamp in the
idoits category along with Olberman, Limbaugh, Hannity, Mathews, Air
America, and Anne Coulter.

I will say this for Vinny: his idoits category is refreshingly non-partisan. His comment is even somewhat germane to the topic, and while it will get no points for spelling or grammatical elegance, it does at least have the virtue of seeming, well, sane.

Let us turn now to the comment of stan woodbridge, which is not germane, grammatically correct, nor… well. You’ll see:

Still no article on the hate America global warming
loons scaremongering and flooding of the Midwest? Flooding the
Republican heartland is no way to get our attention. We get it you hate
America, now leave this great country.

So if I parse this correctly, stan believes that “global warming loons,” by which I infer he means advocates of the climate change theory, are somehow causing the floods in the Midwest to scare Republicans into believing in climate change. Because they hate America.

Someone clearly forgot to wear his bicycle helmet one too many times.
