AND, LO, THERE WAS A GREAT CONVERGENCE.

The two most beloved topics here at the Get Off the Internet offices are the wild and crazy world of fandom and the violent and crazy world of internet news comments. For some time now, our researchers have been endeavoring to find a way to somehow combine the two. Then, suddenly, when no one was looking, it dropped right into our internet laps.

The NBC series Chuck has been struggling throughout much of its life. Once again being threatened with cancellation, its fans opted to hold a bunch of “flash mobs” across the country, which would somehow convince programming executives to spend millions of dollars on a show that has a niche audience at best. Four cities were chosen by the Chuck community- Chicago, Seattle, San Diego and [wait for it] Philadelphia.

NOW, as has been documented in these very pages, Philadelphia has had a, shall we say, difficult relationship with the concept of flash mobs of late. Where it conjures up large groups of hipsters, oh, I don’t know, shaking hands or something in other cities, here in Philadelphia, people associate the term with kids going nuts. So, when news of the Chuck event hit the political weblog of the Daily News (“The People Paper”), folks were a little uneasy.

Yeah, please, no more flash mobs. Will the show pay the legal costs for police if things get out of hand? Will they guarantee to foot the jail bill of anyone arrested?

“Out of hand.” People buying Subway sandwiches and dressing as employees of a fictional Best Buy knockoff. “Out of hand.”

Wow, anyone who flash mobs for another season of Chuck is an ultimate tool.

im starting a flash mob if there is another season of chuck

It’s YOUR city. Ruin it if you like. But when the city loses jobs and resources, (schools already suck!) look in the mirror before you rant!

Has anyone consulted The National Guard? As of yesterday mobs in this city have become so sophisticated that 4th and 5th graders are the targets of High School thugs with a baseball bat. It’s reported by the police there was only one bat but there’s some question as to whether it was wood or metal – what a relief!.

The National Guard. FOR FANS OF CHUCK.

Our prisons are full of “Chuck fans”. We should have “Chuck” banned from the airwaves.

These animals threw beer bottles at cop cars, turn cars over, beat up anybody walking by for no reason even old ladys and they have no respect for anything or anybody…anybody engaged in this type of behavior should be SHOT on sight..I bet ya flash mobs would cease to exists in a jippy.

Now, hold on. I don’t like Chuck, but shot on sight? Some of these people are forgetting the tragic and violent Sports Night riots of 2000, to our eternal national shame.

I kinda liked the idea of The Naked Bike Ride myself. The only thing more revealing than the event itself was the self-righteous outpouring of shock and dismay by the Puritanical, body-part loathers in the comments section here. Can’t somebody organize a Naked Flash Mob event, please?

Okay, dude, now you’re just being creepy. The comments section for the “Save Human Target” rallies are over there.

NASA researchers, drilling hundreds of feet below the Antarctic ice shelf, have discovered a tiny, shrimp-like organism, alive and swimming, confounding some theories about what types of animals can survive at that depth and temperature. Surely, something like this should be a bit humbling, showing that we haven’t come close to understanding the natural and hidden wonders of our planet, let alone the universe. Also, it shows that scientific exploration, moving ever forward, can unlock the doors of knowledge, with each little discovery serving to enrich mankind as a whole.

The great thing about this age in which we live is that discoveries like this can now be shared immediately with untold scores of people, who can share in such wonders and make their opinions about them known to all. Oh wait- did I say “great thing?” Sorry, I meant “really, really awful thing.”

who cares? another worthless venture brought to you by nasa and the american tax payers…

What are the limits? That thing could carry a germ that could wipe us out…

Do the benefits of that kind of exploration outweigh the risk?

Are you kidding me? We are CLOSING PUBLIC SCOOLS accross the nation but our government pays for this Exploration in wasted time? Yeah I wonder why our country is in the state its in! Did these Scientits have a outback BBQ after ther discovery? So disapointed in my government.

Shouldn’t we be focused on fixing what is broken on the surface of this planet first?

NASA National Aeronautics and Space Administration. What are they doing in the ocean under the ice? Are they confused about what they exist for? or maybe they are just another out of control Federal Govenment spending apparatus trying to justify their existence? No wonder this country is broke going broker. Someone should call them up and tell them to knock it off.

The unfortunate thing is that that camera (probably -unless they performed the camera drop and drilling sterilely) now brings new bacteria, viruses and fungi that were not part of that environment into an environment that may be ill-equipped to deal with invasive species. That they were surprised suggests they may not have taken the appropriate caution not to mess with the environment the way the rest of mankind has been bringing in species into new environments and destroying the ecological balance previously in place (cane toads into australia as an example of purposeful introduction, or zebra mussels into the great lakes as an accidental one, small pox into the new world accidental then used maliciously on the North American indians. )

Now how is this find going to help the economy and the starving children?

OK, So whats the National Aeronautics and Space Administration doing under the ice
in Antarctica ?? Could it have anything to do with Washington’s fraudulent global
warming agenda ?

Only God can create this creature, stop trying to think with science. It doesn’t make sense.

There it was just swimming along minding it’s own business and it get plucked out of it’s home and ends up on top of the ice with God knows how many idiots with glasses and pocket protectors (under thier parkas) staring down at it with their mouths open watching WHILE IT DIES !!!
What a life altering discovery. Now the hundreds of thousands of starving people or those dying from horrible diseases can rest easy!
Science has prevailed.

I always thought NASA was just about Space, now at least I know where my tax payer dollars are going to find a new shrimp cocktail , dont worry about AIDS cures or feeding the third world this is far more important.

It was probably an imperfection on the expensive camera we taxpayers footed the bill for and NASA called it a shrimp?!

Great. Now we can spend millions of dollars to search frozen moons for shrimp. Think about that next time you see a telethon.

I THINK THAT IT’S GREAT THAT WE HAVE DISCOVERED A NEW LIFE FORM ON OUR PLANET.LET’S LEAVE IT ALONE.BECAUSE IT MAY BE DEADLY TO SOME OF THESE SO CALLED HUMANS.ON SECOND THOUGHT?????

Bubba Gump already called out “ice shelf shrimp” in the movie… n-ice try NASA

Maybe if they didn’t drill so many holes in the ice it would slow down the melting of the ice caps?

Nasa spends money on this and the census B spends millions on advertising to send in your Census???? We got a letter (and so did you) just to tell us that the Census B is sending the Census!?!?! wonder what the cost of sending every American a letter telling them they are going to get a letter was?

So you are saying that “science” was wrong about where life can live. Is there a possibility that “science” is wrong about the causes of climate change? Tell me it ain’t so!

Though, to be fair, the article is a bit shy on some details (why is the research being done? was anything else found?) and there are a good number of responses also upholding the importance of scientific exploration. However, we don’t want those people to Get Off The Internet. Just the dumb ones.

Recently, there have been two separate incidents of teens coming down to Center City Philadelphia after school’s out and wreaking havoc. After the last incident, several members of City Council even had the wonderful idea to try suing Twitter and Facebook, as they hear that these kids today use this “inter-net” thing to organize their little gatherings (BONUS- the media’s been able to use the phrase “Flash Mob” over and over!). Yesterday, the kids didn’t get to the Gallery and 28 were arrested.

It boils down to stupid teens wanting to head to the downtown mall (The Gallery) to be, well, stupid teens and eventually start fighting, a phenomenon in existence probably since Victor Gruen built the Northland Mall in Detroit in the 1950s. Of course, there is a story in today’s Inquirer about last evening’s incident and, of course, there are wonderful, wonderful comments on the philly.com posting of the article.

Can we start with a wildly awful overstatement of something?

I love the part that says the attacke by these animals are “tarnishing the city’s image”. What image would that be? That we have a large segment of our population who are out of control? That if you see a group of blacks …. get away? If the police see more than 2 together they should break them up because it appears that they can’t be expected to act in a civilized manner. It’s like we’re living in Darfur.

Darfur. With the genocide and all. Thank you. Please continue.

Soon we will need a dictator, once the children of our nation completely stop caring about education. Keep encouraging your children to watch reality TV and American Idol. I hope we all die before we turn into Iran.

Iran. Okay, any other nations?

Eventually, no more Flower shows, home shows or boat shows. Goodbye Convention Center conferences. Philadelphia, meet Camden.

Camden? Camden, New Jersey? Judges? Okay, we’ll accept it. Moving on.

look at what the Democrats have done to this city. The racist Democrat agenda built on the lie of gov’t “help” has created a perpetually poor and ignorant black segment of the community. The Democrats derive their power on the dependencies they create. It is a shame that the ignorant voters actually believe the Democrats care about them. Democrats have done one hell of a job blaming racist Republicans for their problems as they are completely clueless that their community and local politicians are 99% Democrat. Wake up you fools rise up against your Democrat slave masters they don’t care about you!

Where’s Bernard Goetz when you need him?

Somebody tell me again why a suburban swim club was worried about who used their facilities. And then white people get chastised as racist if they cross the street when a group of AA walks by. Can’t say I blame them. You not only have these animals running rampant through the streets, but their also the same people that account for almost all of the violent crime in this city.

Try to be more charitable with your comments, after all, these are the future of our country…the scientist, great philosophers and political leaders.Liberia-here we come.

Liberia! No one can say that the commenters are not well-versed in geography.

I’m a black belt in the ancient art of karate. I will spend my afternoons around the gallery just hoping to run into these cretins. You ever see Bruce Lee take on 20 dudes with no problem? That’ll be me.

Clockwork Orange

Okay. Um, Barry Lyndon?

GORILLAS

Actually, it’s Gorillaz, and their new album, Plastic Beach, drops in the US on March 9. You can preview the whole thing at NPR.com right now! Though, I must admit that I’m a little confused as to why this comment thread went from a geography lesson to suddenly naming random films and musicians. Can we please focus and get this back to (not very) thinly-veiled racism and macho tough guy posturing?

I just legally bought a Smith and Wesson .38. I plan to get a legal concealed weapon permit. I do not plan to be harmed by such a mob. I will defend myself if a bunch of kids come after me. Nutter and police better get a grip on what is happening.

The Gallery and that part of Market St highlights the problems with the urban renewal prejects of 3 or 4 decades ago. it’s like it was designed by the same people who designed high-rise public housing because it seems to have many of the same problem and the same clientele.

Thank you.

Bring back Frank Rizzo! This garbage wouldn’t happen on his watch!

Stop calling these wastes of sperm ‘animals’. Animals don’t behave like this. These brats are perfect examples of why abortion is a great idea.

To all the folks who are arming themselves. PLEASE DON’T START SHOOTING as soon as you see a gang of rampaging kids, because YOU WILL MISS, or a bullet will ricochet AND KILL AN INNOCENT PERSON.. LIKE ME. And you will be prosecuted!

Right. That’s bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

Or maybe we should hit them where they live and see how their parents, or momma, likes it when her home and neighborhood are vandalized and/or destroyed. Oh right, it’s already destroyed. Forget that idea.

We need the Bristol police on this. They know social media. Those of you who hate the city, please form a flash mob of suburbanites. You can descend upon North Philly and bore everyone with talk of your kids and Burberry scarves.

I think its time the citizens and commuters stand up for this city. Who cares if there are 200 teens…still more of us on the streets than them! Don’t just stand by and watch them chase a man into the CVS, stand up for yourselves, each other, and this city. These kids think they are tough, no one can touch them and they can do what they want…wonder what they’ll think when someone bigger and badder cracks ‘em in the jaw. Bunch of punks who think they seen the world and it belongs to them, the adults around here need to teach them a lesson and put them all in their place.

Seems all they touch, they destroy..I was born/raised in Kensington. Merchants along K&A took pride in their shops, swept their pavements etc. K&A use to be one stop shopping. Then everything fell upon darker days. K&A now is nothing but drabby shops that are either pawn shops/chk cashing places/car stereo shops..It was a shame to see it all unravel..even Harrowgate plaza looks like the slums now. Sec 8 did this. Port Richmond is even falling. Now when I drive thru these areas all I see is misery, gloom,Newport Billboards and Billboards with Billy Dee Williams Hawkin’ Colt 45 malt liqour.

Those have to be some old, old ads.

These CHILLRUN didn’t do nuffin. America’s next great city? What about America’s next Detroit or Gary, Indiana? Let’s face it. The savages have won. They have destroyed 75% of this city already. Let’s just throw in the towel. Give them the keys to the place and let them continue to trash and destroy it. Over 200 years and they’re still savages for the most part. That’s why we’ll always be a third rate city – not a great one. Not with the population we have here.

I figured out a deterrant and a fund raising idea for the city. Bring back the stocks then place a tax on rotten vegetables. Id pay some serious coin to blast these fools in the face with a nasty head of lettuce. few days of that, they may reconsider. Also put it on tv so everyone can enjoy…

Someone is going to open up on them with a weapon and then ewe will have to hear about how a ‘good kid’ was ‘murdered’ and didn’t deserve it. I’ll tell you this…..if my wife gets assaulted over there coming from or going to work…..I will be over there fully locked and loaded and searching these punks out !!!!

These “children” need a role model, maybe we should elect someone that they can look up to, how about a black president from another city with a crime problem. Maybe not. What else could we do? I am still thinking………..

Why do I read these things? I don’t know. How many of you are there even reading this? No idea. Is it even worth it? I usually have to lie down and take a nap afterward.

In a city as old as Philadelphia, there are a great many time-honored traditions- the Mummers Parade, the yearly collapse of the Eagles, threatened garbage strikes, Justice Department probes of city employees and so on and so forth, et cetera, et cetera. In today’s Daily News (“The People Paper”) we are afforded a glimpse at another time-honored Philadelphian institution- that of using various pieces of furniture to hold your parking space, a precious commodity on the city’s narrow streets.

In the last two weeks, these spaces have become even more precious, due to some of the largest snowstorms in the city’s history. When people dig those spaces out, they want to save them by any means necessary, though doing so is technically illegal. The article is one of those slice-of-life pieces, giving many examples of the lengths to which people will go to save their spots and Mayor Michael Nutter even vaguely gives a winking approval to the practice. And, of course, with this being Philadelphia and this being the internet, there must be a group of reasonable citizens ready to weigh in on the matter, right?

i saw the news story where the woman complained of her tires getting slashed. She called it selfish. My thing is she was too lazy to park a bit further and WALK to her destination. Who is selfish now?

Yes. Reasonable.

A woman and her dog once pooped right on my sidewalk and left it. I scooped it up, followed her home and dumped, no spreaded it, all over her front steps. Since then, no on parks in my shoveled parking spot. And all I put there, was a bucket of sugar.

From ‘Beauty’-

don’t touch my chair in my spot…if i shovel you better believe i don’t want anyone else benefitting from my hard work…i’m petty enough to do something to your car if your bold enough to move my chair and trash can i use as my space holder…

And in response, some not-so-thinly-veiled racism-

Beauty, it’s your mentality, and poor spelling, that represents this city. If a shoveled out spot is such a worry for you, just collect your welfare payment and walk to the store for your 40s, you don’t need to drive.

Its our tradition and if you dont like it, move to Kansas or something. And YES, I will do something to your car if you touch my spot. Like beauty said, if you’re bold enough to move my chair, then im petty enough to do something to your car. lol.

The sad thing is that if you slash the tires of a car that “takes” the spot you recently shoveled, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon and you’ve probably now lost the spot for a lot longer!

Hey, get out of here with that confusing “logic!”

It’s a matter of respect, which is slowly becoming a thing of the past. A crying shame. It’s becoming the George Harrison song, “I, Me, Mine.”

If you take two hours to dig out one car, then you are either in really bad shape, or lousy at shoveling.

You too! Git!

you take my spot and there will be serious hospital bills

Ahh, that’s better.

Hey new people, it’s called traditions. Don’t move here if you ain’t down wit it.

Yeah, youse. Eaayyyy forgett aboutt it!

I can see both sides of the argument — one through the left lens of my beautiful black drop-temple glasses, one through the right lens. Seriously, though, the first thing residents should do is park their main vehicle in the garage (if possible) or the driveway (if one exists). That’s what my family did when we lived in NE Philly. The only times we ever needed a chair to save the spot in front of our house resulted from huge storms (such as those in 1996, 1993, 1978). Now as a suburbanite, I live on a cul-de-sac barely wide enough for two cars, and there is no parking available there even in summer. We all have big driveways to compensate. Too bad the city’s planners couldn’t figure that out centuries ago.

OH MY GOD- now that person, I specifically want their car re-buried.

One other thing. Do the same people that claim to shovel out and then “own” the spot also pick up the trash in the street during the warmer months? That’s what I thought. You folks are pathetic. I shovel out my spots and if someone takes them that’s life. It’s the city. Don’t like it, move to the burbs and get a driveway.

Again- stop with the sense-making. Like that one guy said- don’t move here if you ain’t down wit it. “It” being tire slashings and dinette sets sitting out in salt and slush and 30-degree temps.

watch it when you put a aluminum lawn chair out in the street, people will take it for scrape money.

Wait- what?

Its only laziness that somebody wouldn’t shovel themselves out and benefit from someone elses labor, oh that reminds me isn’t there a goverment program for that…probably the same people who would steal your parking spot.

take my spot, get shot. period.

Finally, someone who I think best exemplifies the spirit of Get Off The Internet-

Is it wrong to hate the people on both sides of the argument? One comes off as lazy and nonchalant to the hard work put in by others, and the other comes off like an entitled neighborhood bully if you dare cross them.

No, it is never wrong to hate both sides. In fact, that is probably the wisest course to take in reading anything, anywhere on the internet.

WUXTRY! WUXTRY! Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Melissa Dribben does not use Twitter!

With this being the dead middle of August in a city that virtually shuts down during this period, this news gets space in the Sunday edition of the paper.

And, with this being the Inquirer, the online version of the story gets angry comments. Commenter ‘ppsaq,’ why don’t you start us off?

Melissa – You are among the first of many literate and learned people who will finally have the guts to proclaim “where’s the beef” and “there’s no ‘there’ there” regarding Twitter. It is brain chewing gum for dimwits who are incapable of writing more than 140 characters, and even that severely taxes their mental capabilities. It represents the ultimate in the dumbing down of America. So, you are not lagging behind the hordes. You are out in front revealing Twitter for what it is – just as the phoniness of Obama is being revealed every single day.

Blah, blah, high horse stuff about twitter and then BAM! Agenda! Brandon215, a rebuttal?

This is kind of funny because part of your criticism of the micro blogging in some of the social networks is the self centeredness of the “read me” type posts. But we can intpret your opinion and column in the same way. And it was way over 140 characters. Think about that as well and your approach to communicating with people.

Interesting, interesting. Ppsaq, you have 140 characters, response?

brandon215 is the prototypical Twitter dimwit. Uh, now brandon215, that’s pro-to-typ-i-cal. Take your time, and send me a Tweet if you need any help looking it up. And, don’t hold your breath.

You went over, but the judges will let it slide. Brandon215?

ppasq – I don’t use twitter. Your making assumptions and calling me a dimwit. I don’t use twitter and I am an executive a a very large corporation. If you need a j-o-b you can look me up.

Wait- we have someone else, VanessaJ, obviously an expert on internet marketing-

At this moment Twitter is a pretty useless interactive tool, besides letting your followers know that you just farted, the application itself is in the first inning of a nine inning game. As soon as Twitter figures out how to integrate its services and becomes more like a news, information and or enterainment channel with credible rich content e.g. (video, photos, audio) it will be remain a trend were any moron and post idiotic short messages.

Yes, much like comment threads on news articles. Ppsaq, a response for both of these?

VanessJ – Similar comment I had for brand215. Only besides being a dimwit, you are stupid. That’s “stu-pid,” just like all of the other ones, including The Inquirer, who christened The Great One. He is a joke. That “joh-ohke,” VanessaJ.

brandon215 – Why would I want a job from “an executive of a very large corporation” who doesn’t know the difference between “you’re” and “your.” I am head of my own thriving business. I don’t need a job from a very large corporation of dimwits who don’t know their grammar. And that’s not “grandma.”

Alright, who else wants to chime in?

tweet, tweet lol

I can’t wait until twitter crashes and burns in a firey financial death

Twitter was great until it #failed during the DoS attack on Thursday. I could not tweet via SMS and it blocked many of the API clients and web posts using Firefox. This is the beginning of the end.

Wait- you used a hashtag in your news article comment about Twitter? Please step away from the TweetDeck, son.

i think its hilarous that some people actually think people care what they are currently doing, haha, these people for the most part are concided losers

See also- THE REST OF THE GODDAMNED INTERNET.

Melissa– You nailed it. twitter is pablum for the thumbs.

It is also balderdash, folderol and hooey.

I will be posting a link to this post on my twitter. You’re welcome for my just TOTALLY BLOWING YOUR MIND.

By combining law enforcement data with ZIP code information, a website created a list of the 25 Most Dangerous Neighborhoods in America. Among them are areas in Chicago, Baltimore, Kansas City, and Dallas. In fact, other than the fact that there’s nowhere on the list further west than Missouri, it looks about as you might expect.

And the comments? They look about as you might expect as well. thorin4life, start us out, please!

let me guess self-hating liberals and your negro pets, it’s all whiteys fault right? LOL

Sgrnthumb1 blames the Conservative issue-du-jour:

Our government does not care about lawabidding citizens. That is why they fund criminals through social services which encourages them to breed more criminals. The thugs from south of our border and other third world countries are allowed to continue to come here, with million’s of illegal’s making their fist crime, when they illegaly cross our border and our government does not do a damn thing about it. Why would you expect them to become law abiding. Why would anyone expect them to be responsible when they are rewarded for breaking our laws! Stupid damn government.

Racialcoward starts one thinking that maybe, maybe, this story got linked on a site that, oh, I don’t know, talks about the Civil War a lot.

Everyone of those 25 neighborhoods are BLACK. 90 percent of the US Prision population is BLACK. Once wealthy African Nations are not in the sewer after WHITES were driven out and you still write that crime is not a BLACK thing. Even rich and wealth BLACKS are still killing people so don’t blame it on poverty. It is a BLACK thing. If I see a black man walking down my street I load my shotgun and call 911.

And now, the same author exposes the TRUTH:

The Federal Government and BLACK ORGANIZATIONS now have a policy of breeding BLACKs with WHITE WOMEN. They think they can breed out that NEGRO DNA the creates the Low IQ and desire to Kill. The problem with BLACK MALES is there are too many damm BLACK MALES. Look at what breeding did to OBAMA, he is so tame and timid now that North Korea could bomb us and Obama would just eat a dish of ice cream.

CartwrightFlight points out that these cities are nowhere near as prosperous and safe as the ones you find in predominantly Conservative states:

There is a lesson here. The vast majority of these places (like Chicago) have been run by liberal democrats for decades and therefore should be urban utopias… When you take away peoples (black, white or whatever) pride by promising to give them everything, this is what you get. This is an urgent lesson we must learn fast if we are to survive as a nation

Tackberry is pretty sure you know what he means, hint hint.

No. 3 is Overtown in Miami. I’m very familiar with that area. You couldn’t pay me enough to walk through there unarmed, day or night. Overtown is where all the tourists disappear when they get lost. There’s homeless all over the place. I’d mention something about the demographics of the area but you already know.

Holy cow, now that you mention it, Santiagonoey, I guess that IS true!

Has anyone noticed that the nieghborhoods dipicted here are where the majority of residents are black americans, and thats a fact !

RbTess2 is gonna bust a caps lock on you:

SPAY AND NEUTER LIBERAL WELFARE BREEDER THESE NEIGHBORHOODS WOULDN’T EXIST

Alblonie116‘s battery is dying:

I studied this, intently….There is ‘No”,Answer to this….This is a ‘Clash”,of cultures,,,thats all….The people doing the crime,,if thats what you wish to call it,,are just doing what they always have…The inforcers, are also just doing what they always have…..This does not mean,,there is an answer,,or even,,anyone to blame…If I could talk to some of these criminals in these areas,,they would be totally on my wavelength…If I could talk to the inforcers,,’the police,,they would be totally on my wavelength….this is the price we have to pay…for mistake..

LVen091204 is just saying what everyone’s thinking:

How did the inner city of Atlanta escape this list? As a native Atlantan, I have watched the law abiding people being chased further and further away from the city by crime. The once nice white areas of town are trying to stage a comeback, while the traditional black areas are more involved in crime than ever. Many of those moving back downtown have been assaulted, robbed or killed. ALL by inner city blacks. Yes it is about race. That’s the way the inner city, lazy, elementary school dropouts live.

Acuralo wants you to know he has many black friends on television:

As I read through these posts, I must concur, there seems to be one fact that is being left out of these Top 25 neighborhoods and that is…..WHAT IS THE RACIAL DEMOGRAPHIC? Unfortunately though, in these PC times, it wouldnt be nice to report all the facts. It is a shame, cause there are many many good black americans out there, but a vast minority of their own keep bringing them down.

Robken61 is just telling it like it is.

There is one common denominator in all these cities, the makeup of all these neighborhoods are black and this isn’t racist its just the facts.

RPBXXI wants to assuage your fears about Chicago:

By the way, I live on the SOUTHSIDE and it’s great! A lot of available parking spaces and Sox just won a World Series as recently as 2005. The crimes are done by idiot jungle monkeys in certain areas that I would not even glance at.

Oh hey, Racialcoward is back!

Washington, DC has the world’s most deadly corner in the world. PBS NOVA did a special on death and photographed that corner where more people have been killed by BLACK DEATH CENTER residents than any other corner in the world. The only reason the reporter could photo that corner was that he had hired two armed police officers to guard him during his report. Its two blocks from THE GREAT SATAN’s OVAL OFFICE.

and

America will be a better place to live once BLACKS acknowledge and appologize for their enslavement of God’s choosen people, the Jews. BLACKs should turn over all thier welfare and drug money to the Jewish people as reperations for their crimes. Each year Jewish people celibrate their emancipation from the BLACK EGYPTIAN slave masters called the Passover.

All righty, then!

This week, the strange tale of Kari Ferrell, the “Hipster Grifter,” came to an end, as so many things do, in Philadelphia, with her arrest this week. Initial reports stated that she had turned herself in to authorities, but in a recent post at the City Paper weblog, local musician Sam Tremble takes credit for setting up the bust.

In the comments, there is a perfect storm of anti-hipster rage, class warfare and anti-snitching sentiment. Let’s go to the tape-

That’s totally rock and roll, man, working with the cops to set people up for a bust. Good work, crime stopper.

Um, since when does Philly like snitches? Impressed, yet surprised. I’m guessing dudes in an emo, not punk, band!

pretty slick pal. Now you get your headline publicity too. I´m really surprised you didn´t name check your band 50 times. Guess you figure it´s even cooler to get the google hits on your name. Fucking losers. Both of y´all. enjoy yr 15 minutes. That´s all you´re gonna get.

Wow, your folks must be so proud. They raised a snitch. And you look like your bands sucks.

You’re a rat fuck, Tremble. Ratting some girl out that didn’t even do anything to you, just to get your ugly mug in the papers. I hope someone breaks a bottle over your skinny little dome at your next show.

Dear Sam Tremble a.k.a. The Hipster Snitcher,

You expect us to believe your motives for setting her up to be arrested were because “she wasted (your) time and energy with her cancer stories”? You’re a prick who wants attention. I’m in no way a Kari Ferrell fan but I’d rather have her around then you any day.

I can’t wait to tomato your band. I can’t wait to watch what everyone else does too!

And stop shopping in the juniors department you dick.

She isn’t rich. Plenty of semi-rich people or people who forge things on their cc apps lie and have debt up to and above $60,000. Should we set them up too?

“Bloviation?” You’re an f***ing douche. You sent a girl to jail and then blogged about it. What a proud moment for you.

Sam Treble is such an ugly deuchebag, even Kari probably didn’t want to fuck him, or take his $, which is why he snitched on her and went to such great lengths to set her up. What a weasel.

Can I call him a deuchebag anymore times? Sam, get a fucking nosejob and buy a grown man’s shirt.

Maybe we are taking it out on the wrong criminal here.
Why aren’t we posting the pictures of the CEOs of major corporations that stole and lied from us on the most wanted lists? I’m a lot more hurt about them and their lies and cons.

Where was her bail out?

So what if she lied about cancer, and didn’t have money. We aren’t all so fortuate to have it ALL together ALL the time. We all make mistakes.
If she had a little more trust and compassion given to her maybe she would have turned it all around gotten a job and paid off her debt – like other people do with credit cards.

She’s totally like Robin Hood or something! A folk hero, like Winona Ryder!

I guess no one with cancer stories will cross you again!

Lol, bitch ass snitch. Like you’re fucking perfect? Die in a fire, snitch.

Avalon’s Willow? You’re in Philadelphia? Let’s get drinks! We’ll hit Fat Jack’s, get some comics. Call me.

of course it was a hipster who dropped the dime on her. god hipsters are scum

http://freekari.com/

Snitch-ass Bitch-ass Tremble! I implore all insecure Asian woman (and men for that matter) to start preying on these hipster assbags. Non-Asians too. Hipsters are a bain upon society. It’s hard for a regular guy like myself to enjoy record shopping, going to the movies, or simply having a smoke outside without having to listen to these tools go on about Calexico or Jarmusch or whatever.

I have to admit- his taking the photo, writing the post- I almost agree with a couple of these folks, but the whole thing, top to bottom, from Mr. Tremble to the commenters, is filled with high levels of jerkitude. I think we can agree that they all need to get off the internet.

People who commit crimes deserve what’s coming to them. People who help police solve crimes are to be commended. But this? This is shameless egotistic self-gratification parading around as civic duty. Congrats – everyone knows who you are now, Sam! And isn’t that what you really wanted in the first place?

Well, okay- except for that dude. That actually made some sense.

In a tragic piece of financial meltdown news, the CFO of Freddie Mac recently committed suicide.

To people who subscribe to a certain mindset, this is not a moment to stop and think for a moment about the man and his family.

No, to these people it’s a moment to indulge in bizarre anti-Obama conspiracy theories.

I believe he was murdered he had too much info and was probably going to tell all,I dont think it was suicide at all,it happened when the clintons was enpowered also.he had a family and his wife had no clue why he would do this sounds fishy too me and i heard yesterday he had guards at his house last month.it was MURDER!

Regardless of whether is was suicide or not, barney franks and chris dodd and john conyers, jesse jackson, diane feinstein, and nacy pelosi are responsible for this death and they should all be charged with murder

This sort of tragedy does seem to follow when democrats when scandals are concerned. This guy was under an awful lot of pressure lately, but O has his own brownshirt army to take care of things like this. I hope the police are doing the appropriate interviews in the neighborhood. Was ACORN have a rally nearby?

I think he was going to blow the whistle on the spineless weasles in Washington and Freddie. Some maybe Chicago Thugs??? killed him. It is easy to look like suicide in a hangin. Ya know, Never knew anyone thank God who did it, but get on a stool, find a hanging device and say your peace. However, Shooting yourself or knifing yourself would be more difficult to prove . He was young, financially set, a small child, I would like to read the SUICIDE??? note. Bet there is not one.

A family man, with a young child, with no apparent reasons to end his life does NOT commit suicide in his own home…by hanging!!! …and leave no suicide note.
Who would believe a father wanting his young daughter to find him hanging from a rope in his own house?
Give us a break! How stupid do you think we,american people who voted for Obama, are?…may be the Democrats are right,we must be stupid…

If the DEMs suggest that you “fall on your sword” and you don’t, they’ll be happy to bring the sword to you. Funny how the suicide rate among business and government officials goes up during DEMONcratic Administrations.

I believe that he did not kill himself just like JFK wasn’t assassinated. I wonder who is next. The CIA is alot stronger than even the White House when it comes to revealing people in the field. Maybe the Obama administration needs to be investigated a little bit after he gets out of office….To see if he is even a real U.S. citizen… If he was all that of a lawyer why did he want to be President? They make more money…

This smells too much like White Water and all of the people who just “happened to die.” This young man must have had a world of pressure on him. He came up through the ranks at Freddie…why would he just want to up and kill himself? I believe with all of my heart there is something behind this. I believe the Keystone Cop Administration could have blood on their hands…either way.

There is an Old Saying, that the Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions.
So for all the liberals, and conservatives, Where Exactly are we headed?
It is Past time, toTake careful consideration, and Deliberate on the Goal. Keep America Safe! This Includeds, The Borders and Ports security, Along with Illegal Immigration Control. Not to mention the Drug Cartel’s and the War on Terror> Calling it another name, is not going to change the Facts!
A rose by any other name?
However, you may be Reclassified, Tried and Exposed for the Fraud they, say it is? Try to Differentiate, between the Wright and the Right, and the Wrong is Still Wrong, and learn to tell the differance!
Then Vote, come Nov 2010, and again in 2012, With “ALL” the “FACTS” at your disposal. Time to Clean House, in “ALL” Three Branches of Gov’t! Especially Congress and Senate, and the Judicial Branch too. Then the White House!
Get back to the Founding Documents and Bill of Rights!

It is all about confusing issues, and playing with words and meaning. Part of the Playbook.
It is an attack on our basic values. After awhile the stupid uneducated don’t know what to think and are lead by the Nose!
They are aganist the Death Penalty, But will Kill babies. They are aganist Water Boarding, but treat anyone with different ideas with Hate.
Like in 1984 they double speak, all meanings are twisted to mean less, and lose inpact. They talk of Accountability, but look the other way, and protect their own. They promise transparity, but don’t show us what they are doing until it’s done. Honesty is an excuse to Lie and Cheat. Getting caught means it is time to move on. They keep throwing these violations one after the other to keep us spinning. They toss Trillions of Dollars into a hole, and brag about “saving” a 100 Million. This is how they work!
It is all about creating Crsis, and then ‘Saving us” when it is their intent to destroy everything this Country stands for.

Liberals don’t want waterboarding for terrorists, but not a hitch when the liberal crooks try to cover up their dirty linen with a bullet to the head.
Woonder if this poor guy had rather have been waterboarded.

No way this guy committed suicide. If you research the historical patterns of so-called “white-collar” suicides you will rarely if at all do they occur in the home with the spouse and /or children present. The fact that he was discovered in the basement of his own home in the overnight hours is radically different then the suicide profiles you see where the victim removes himself from the home and from family to “clense the shame” they cast. This guy had a 5 year old!!!
Remember this administration is essentially nothing more than Chicago thuggery. People are expendable and “appear and disappear” as needed. I am convinced this guy knew more than he should, uncovered something he should not have or got close the the core and people responsible. No black helicopters here , just look at the facts. I am certain we will never know the truth.

People this is just the beginning. I believe with all my heart this was not suicide. This man knew too much, had a conscience, or, perhaps was getting ready to bcome a whisltle-blower. I really believe this man began at FM with good intentions, but, something happened to him. We are foolish to this was suicide and The OBAMA CAMP didn’t have something to do with it. Let’s take our country back!!!!!!

I’ve written to Fox Broadcasting asking for a sincere apology from or replacement of Janeane Garofalo on “24″ before my household watches the program again.
Their endorsement of global warming (commercial by cast member) alsoo deserves writing campaign.
How bout it? Write to Fox Broadcasting Co. and voice your complaint.

Yes, there is an outbreak of swine flu and the United States announced Sunday that they are declaring a public health emergency. It’s a situation and a reaction. It would seem rather apolitical to inform the public about what measures will be taken and what precautions they should take themselves. I mean, what could you possibly read into this?

Oh, alright, let’s check the low-hanging fruit that comprises the the commenters on the FoxNews.com story about the announcement.

The movie “V” comes to mind. Perhaps the current administration started this epedimic to gain even more government control over our lives. I just don’t trust anything this group does or says; it seems all they care about is power to destroy our nation. This is the first time in my life where I am actually afraid of our president.

Is it just me, or is this “swine flu epidemic (in another country!)” a really convenient distraction from JN [Janet Napolitano, the Secretary of Homeland Security, who made today's announcement- RJ] having recently exposed herself as a left-wing Nazi out to target anyone with good, old-fashioned American values, and/or the status of Veteran? Man, these crazies are something else.

THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE ON WHY OUR BORDERS SHOULD BE SEALED, SEALED, SEALED!

NAP-O-LADY needs to do her job! Protecting THE CINCO DE MAYO parties that are set for the White BRO House…. We can’t allow this to let the bean dip(s) go bad!!! SOUR CREAM ANYBODY?…..

Is this the beginning of what the bible calls the Apocalypse??————————————————–> When the swine influenza H1N1), and the H5N1), avian influenza are exposed to each other thru human to human transmission the magnatude of sickness will evolve to epic proportions! Already the Avain h5n1 has set a very strong foot hold on Egyptian Central Public see:( http://www.who.int/csr/don/2009_04_23a/en/index.html ). The World Health Org will not tell everything they know about what these to flu viruses will mutate into because they know that this will cause world wide panic and could be the straw to break the world wide economic calamity. I AGREE with demsmasher! how many will it take? 10K that get the virus or 10K to die………. CLOSE the boarders and stop all flights now or else the MOVIE with Will Smith “I AM LEGEND” will be the outcome in a sence to this problem!! SEE THE WHO WEBSITE! http://www.who.int/csr/don/2009_04_26/en/index.html

AP REPORTS: Swine flu source tracked to US Congress Stimulus Bill. Congress is immune to the flu from being exposed to so much pork! Face masks being distributed to US citizens from Obama Administration as precursor to Universal Health Care…all citizens must register, be stamped and given tracking # in order to get a Obama logo face mask and a vaccination against the “pork flu”..line up at the government trough.

The swine flu was created by the Obama administration to create panic within the US to pass his upcoming healthcare agenda. Just like Global Warming, the Swine Flu is a fluke…created by Liberals to socialize America.

And so on, for six or so pages. So, you know what to do, kids- Play it safe: if you come into contact with anyone who comments on news stories on the internet, be sure to wear gloves and then wash throroughly afterward. Though, you will likely never quite feel clean ever again.

Nothing is more important in this country than making sure that your house doesn’t violate any of the questionably enforceable rulings of your local neighborhood association. Which is why the question over the legality of “flags symbolizing sexual orientation” has become so important to the city of Neptune.

So if i hung up a confederate flag or SS or a Nazi flag, that would be ok as well? i think not. WHAT IF WE HANG UP A FLAG THAT HAS A RAINBOW & A CROSS GOING THROUGH IT? WOULD THAT BE OK AS WELL? IF IT OFFENDS MORE THEN 1 PERSON, THEY THE ISSUE SHOULD BE TALKED ABOUT. FIRST AMENDMENT COVERS ONE TO EXPRESS THERE APPROVAL FOR HOMOSEXUALITY, BUT NOT DISAPPROVAL OF HOMOSEXUALITY. gotta love this liberal country. what are you coming to?

(no dont go off on a rant you liberals to cloud the comments on how big of a racist i am, stick to the topic and my comment. im not a Nazi or support such fascist groups, im only making a example of how flags could offend people.)

Yes, because a flag showing support for a minority community and a flag showing support for genocidal murders are exactly the same thing.

Just TRY and put a Confederate flag up however.

THEN we’ll see who is REALLY for ‘tolerance” and the 1st Amenment.

IT’S ABOUT HERITAGE NOT HATE!!! Or something.

Why is it the First Admendment is used as a sheild for “you” to say what you want, but when someone else says what “they” want it is a defamation of …(enter topic of the day)…. that is not what the admendment was written for. It was the ability to speak against the Government and its views without persicutuion.

I am sick of gays feeling that they have more rights to say and do what they want because they are gay.

If I put Nazi flags on my car and drove through Lakewood playing a Hitler speach, I’ll bet you I would get stopped, arrested, and found guilty in court before the end of the day.

If I put a flag that said “AIDS: the gay corrector” I would be told to take it down or that I’ll be arrested.

But they can take the American Flag, replace the stripes that stand for the blood of the men that fought to liberate us from England, and put a rainbow? Their Rainbow flag is offensive to me since my family has shed blood for this country. Where are my rights?

Oh won’t someone please think of the poor, picked upon white heterosexual men of this country?

a family had there kids taken away because they had a flag with a swastika on the wall(inside there home), and nazi tattoo’s and the father wore black army boots and the kids name was hitler….BUT WHEN SOME AFRICAN WOMAN NAMES HER SON Huey P. Newton(started black panthers) NOT A SINGLE PERSON WOULD MAKE AN ISSUE OR TAKE HER SON AWAY. THE LIBERAL GOVERNMENT SAYS ITS OK FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOR ILLEGALS, GAYS, ETC….BUT IF YOU CRITICIZE THOSE ILLEGALS, GAYS, ETC- YOUR A RACIST, BIGOT, & WRONG.

If Hester Prynne, had to wear a scarlet A on her dress as a sign of shame. why should these homes not be made to fly a gay flag to alert people as well ?

Yeah. And while we’re at it, maybe all the gay people could be forced to wear some sort of identifiable marker on their clothing. A pink triangle, perhaps?

I mean, seriously, dude? That’s the comparison you want to make?

WHY BECAUSE I THINK DIFFERENTLY THEN YOU? ISN’T THAT YOU BEING A BIGOT? ISNT THAT YOU BEING HYPOCRITICAL? YOU WANT EVERYONE TO ACCEPT YOU AND YOUR DEVIANT SEXUAL BEHAVIOR WITH OUT ANY KIND OF RIDICULE, BUT GOD FORBID SOMEONE DOESN’T AGREE WITH YOU- YOUR ALL OF A SUDDEN MAKING ME TO BE THE CRAZY ONE

I SWEAR YOU LIBERALS ARE FUNNY…FOR A GROUP THAT ADVOCATES FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EQUALITY ACROSS THE BOARD, AND EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THERE OWN OPINIONS AND EVERYONE SHOULD BE ACCEPTED AS THEY ARE….YOUR THE FIRST ONES TO POINT FINGERS AND CALL PEOPLE WRONG FOR HOW THEY THINK, AND BE ASHAMED.

And yet another person in this country who seems to think that “freedom of speech” also means “freedom from criticism of your speech.”

Now that I have seen a picture of the flag in question I can understand why the neighbors are upset. They took our NATIONAL FLAG and changed the color of the stripes to advertise their sexuality. I believe in freedom of speech but try being origional. They could have chosen any rainbow flag to advertise their rights. Why do gays feel like they have to disrespect our flag to promote their agenda? Disrespect does not earn respect. Inflaming Americans by desecrating our flag will only create more opposition., no? It’s common sense, human nature. Want to be equal and accepted have some “self respect”. You’ll earn more by doing good in your community and setting a good example with your kindness – not by spreading your anger & hate toward fellow Americans.

The rainbow colors…..isn’t that the HIV-AIDS symbol?

All class, these people.

yea because the government always panders to gays, illegals, minorities, etc. while the average working white citizen gets the shaft. welcome to liberal America. EVERYTHING IS GRAVY, DO WHAT YOU WANT, SAY WHAT YOU WANT, FLY WHAT YOU WANT, AS LONG AS IT FALLS UNDER THE LIBERALS AGENDA.

AGAIN YOU WANT EQUALITY, AND TOTAL FREEDOM TO DO WHAT YOU WANT, THEN MAKE IT JUST AS ACCESSIBLE TO THOSE THAT DONT AGREE WITH YOU.

GAYS CAN FLY THERE FLAGS, AND STICK THOSE COLORFUL MAGNETS TO THERE CARS…AND THATS FREEDOM OF SPEECH/EXPRESSION.

MINORITIES CAN SPORT BLACK POWER/PANTHER SHIRTS, STICKERS, FLAGS, GROUPS…AND THATS TOTALLY FINE. NO NEWS MEDIA WANTS TO EVEN TOUCH THAT SUBJECT.

ME HAVING A SS/WHITE POWER/ ANTI ILLEGAL/ ANTI OBAMA PARAPHERNALIA- AND IM AN INSTANT RACIST/IGNORANT BIGOT. MY KIDS GET REMOVED BY DYFIS, MY FAMILY RECEIVING DEATH THREATS, THE MEDIA ALL OVER ME LIKE WHITE ON RICE.

WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TOO? I DONT CARE WHO DOES WHAT IN THERE BEDROOM. AND FLY YOUR FLAGS IF YOU WANT— BUT DONT DARE EVEN SMIRK AT ME IF I HANG MY WHITE POWER FLAGS, OR ANTI ILLEGAL POSTERS, OR ANTI-GAY POSTERS. WHY IS IT OK TO NOT AGREE WITH MY VIEWS, BUT ITS INSTANTLY IGNORANT IF I DONT AGREE WITH YOUR LIFE STYLE?

this is an example of what I don’t understand about gays.

on one hand, gays will be the first ones to say “our sexual orientation is just a small part of who we are; we shouldn’t be judged by that. we’re everyday people who go to work, own homes, pay taxes, just like you…” or something to that effect.

but at the same time, gay people trumpet their sexual orientation every chance they get. “being gay” is not just sexual orientation to them- it seems as if it’s a way of life. everything they do revolves around “being gay.”

seriously, no one cares what you do in the privacy of your own home.

but why the need to share it with the world?

perhaps I should start flying a “straight” flag outside my home…

however, that would somehow get turned around into me being a homophobe, hatemonger, etc.

such is life in liberal nj. you don’t dare speak out against gays, minorities, illegals, etc. if you do, you are immediately branded a hater, bigot, homophobe, etc.

Yes, because straight people never advertise their sexuality…

The APP should be proud of itself, providing a forum for people to publish hate speech anonymously.

Well, that and for the good laughs doing that gives the rest of us.

the first “set aside” by the new president is tickets to the easter egg hunt at the white house, for alternate sexual orentation couples and the children the adopeded . equil rights? no . pandering to a different group . yes. even though they claim to be no different. they don’t want equil rights, they want special rights.

Sixteen pages of comments before we get to “it’s Obama’s fault.” Nice one, Jersey!
